On the Beat: Vermont Collectives Keep Festival Season Rolling

The Wallflower Collective in Burlington is hosting their third annual Wallflower Fest on August 25, with a lineup including Lavern, Poliça, King Buffalo, Zach Person, Maris, and JET THE 3RD along with 11 local acts. The festival promises a mix of touring acts and local talent. Tickets are available on Wallflower’s social media.

Meanwhile, What Doth Life, a DIY collective based in Windsor, is teaming up with the Main Street Museum in White River Junction for What Doth Rumble on September 7 and 8. This free festival will feature over 20 bands, workshops on topics like “Making a Music Video” and “Music & Activism,” and donations are encouraged. Visit mainstreetmuseum.org for more information.

Photographer Luke Awtry captured Moon Hooch’s performance at the Festival of Fools in downtown Burlington on August 2. The Brooklyn trio delighted the crowd with their energetic saxophone and drum performance, leading a parade up Church Street and playing a headlining set at City Hall Park. The festival atmosphere was filled with dancing, laughter, and silliness, reflecting the joy that Moon Hooch’s music brings to the people of Burlington. It had been four years since they last performed at the festival, and it was clear that their return was a highly anticipated and well-received event.
