On the Beat: Afterglow Returns; New Reggae Fest Debuts

The Green Mountain Reggae Festival is set to take place at the Bradford Fairgrounds, featuring top reggae talent from Vermont and beyond. Conceived by Matt Strong, the festival will host over 20 acts, local vendors, workshops, and a kids’ tent. Strong was inspired by the legacy of the Vermont Reggae Festival and aims to create a community-focused event. Tickets are available for purchase on the festival’s website.

The Afterglow festival, dedicated to suicide awareness, will be held at the Hard’ack Recreation Area in St. Albans. Launched to honor those lost to suicide, the event includes workshops, speakers, and a memory wall. Featuring performances from local bands and singer-songwriters, the festival aims to celebrate lives lost to suicide while promoting open conversations about mental health. Proceeds from the event go towards supporting those affected by suicide.

Photographer Luke Awtry captured the live music scene at Wallflower Fest in Burlington, where bands like Maris and King Buffalo performed. Maris, hailing from Los Angeles, set a positive and energetic tone for the event. With live music, tattooing, and good vibes, Wallflower Fest celebrated the Wallflower Collective and brought the community together for a fun and memorable event.
