BRATTLEBORO, VT — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) invites creators of all ages to design and build original LEGO sculptures and display them at the museum in BMAC’s Eleventh Annual LEGO Contest & Exhibit, taking place November 9-11. This popular annual event is generously sponsored by People’s United Bank. Prizes include gift certificates to Toy City in Keene, N.H.

BMAC will display every entry submitted to the contest. A panel of judges will award prizes based on creativity and craftsmanship in six age groups, with other prizes to be awarded at the judges’ discretion. Every contestant will receive a personalized certificate of participation and complimentary admission passes to BMAC.

Entries from past years have included a replica of BMAC, an amusement park, a model of Brattleboro’s Harris Hill ski jump, a working pinball machine, and a bust of Abraham Lincoln. “One thing we want to emphasize,” says BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld, “is that, although it’s a contest, no one is really focused on the competition. This is all about celebrating creativity and having fun at the museum.”

Entries must be delivered to BMAC on Tuesday, November 6, 4-6 p.m., along with an entry form and $5 entry fee. Special arrangements to deliver entries earlier may be made by calling 802-257-0124, ext. 101. The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 8 at 5 p.m. All entries will remain on display at the museum through Sunday, November 11. Contest guidelines and entry forms are available at or by calling 802-257-0124, ext. 101.

Founded in 1972, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center presents rotating exhibits of contemporary art, complemented by lectures, artist talks, film screenings, and other public programs. The museum’s galleries and gift shop are open every day except Tuesday, 11-5. Regular admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for students. Members and children 18 and under are admitted free of charge. Located in historic Union Station in downtown Brattleboro, at the intersection of Main Street and Routes 119 and 142, the museum is wheelchair accessible. Major support for BMAC is provided by its members and Allen Bros. Oil, Brattleboro Savings & Loan, C&S Wholesale Grocers, the Four Columns Inn, Sam’s Outdoor Outfitters, and Whetstone Station Restaurant & Brewery.
