Join us once again for Downtown Brattleboro’s Gallery Walk! This long-running and much loved program has recently been adopted by the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance, and we think you’ll really like what we’ve put together as the new and improved Gallery Walk experience. Together we’ll celebrate art, music, community, food, and creativity in all it’s forms. You can even get in on the artistic action with our Artful Streets Interactive Pop-Up Art Stations. To maximize the fun, Elliot Street will be closed to traffic making for the very best block party and outdoor concert space.
Did you know that Downtown Brattleboro boasts quite the assortment of galleries? They run the gamut from Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, bringing nationally touring exhibits to our tiny town, all the way to our beloved Bead Museum below Beadnik’s showroom. There is truly something for everyone. Head to Harmony Collective on Elliot Street and grab a program. Take a peek at the map and plan your route.
Downtown Brattleboro and The Stone Church present The DiTrani Brothers. Local fan favorites, they’ll be serving crooked dance music from lonesome places. These folks are local fan favorites, you don’t want to miss!
Main Street Flea is back with 30+ local artists/makers/upcyclers/creators. Bring a shopping bag and find your treasures right here at the Flea. Jewelry, pottery, clothing, potions, tarot readings, fabrics, Ezra Distler’s famous photo booth, there is so much creativity and wonderful-ness going on at Main Street Flea.
The Artful Streets:
Downtown Brattleboro and The Human Connection Project join forces to create The Artful Streets. Every community member is invited to embrace their inner artists through these unique offerings:
*Tunnel of Technicolor Transformation- Harmony Tunnel
Walk in “everyday you.” Walk out “technicolor you!” Local stylists will help you transform your whole look in just a few minutes—hair, face and accessories! Donations are from our local businesses. Style talent is local, too. “Bling” it on, Brattleboro! Let’s shine bright tonight!
*Technicolor Runway Walk- Harmony Park
Take to the runway after you emerge from the Tunnel of Technicolor Transformation! Coached and critiqued by Brattleboro Queer Dance Party (BQDP) MCs, Lily DeValley and Patty Cake, you’ll find your inner strut to bumpin’ tunes. Make sure to strike a pose for the Paparazzi or at the photobooth! BQDP + Cabaret returns to the Stone Church Friday, September 17th 9p-1a.
*Bloom Bar + Seed Balls- Elliot Street
What adds more color to our community this time of year than flowers?! Come on out and join the Brattleboro Food Co-op and make your own flower bouquet, using blooms from Guilford’s flower farm Tapalou Guilds. We will also be handing out delicious samples of honey from Vermont apiary However Wild Honey, to celebrate our hard-working pollinators that keep these blooms alive and thriving. Get your own pollinator gardens going by making seed balls with Bonnyvale Environmental Center onsite, too.
*Technicolor Mosaic Chalk Street Art- Elliot Street
Join Margot from River Gallery School to create Technicolor Mosaic Chalk Street Art. Grab a stick of chalk and draw in the shape to make a vibrant group Mosaic. Everyone can join in with this collaborative public art piece, no experience required! Let’s make Brattleboro a Technicolor Town!
The Food: We’ll welcome several local food trucks into our Downtown space. These include Dosa Kitchen, Thai Hut, The BBQ Pit Mistress, and More!
We think you’ll agree that first Fridays are for Gallery Walk, and Gallery Walk is for you! Grab some friends and neighbors and make an evening of it. Downtown Brattleboro can’t wait to see you!
