Our musical program for April “Hearing Influences” explores traces of the past in modern compositions.
Hong Kong native, Hon Ki Cheung is a PhD Candidate in Music at the University of Minnesota. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance, Music Theory, and Composition from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Music Theory from Florida State University. She has studied organ from Ulf Samuelsson (Sweden), Michael Bauer, James Higdon, and Iain Quinn, as well as composition from James Barnes, Clifton Callender, Bryan Kip Haaheim, Ladislav Kubik, and Forrest Pierce. She has performed as a soloist organist and accompanist across the United States, and her organ compositions have been chosen to be featured in the 2016 American Guild of Organists (AGO) Convention in Houston, the AGO Student Commissioning Project 2016.
