This week we’ve got:
Chelle and Paul – You’ve heard in the news how people are fleeing CA and moving to Austin, TX. Well, there’s talent fleeing Austin and settling in Bratt! Recent transplants Chelle and Paul deliver a high-energy mix of Appalachian and Texan-bluesy country rock.
LJ Lascari – Another singer songwriter from south TX recently relocated to Vermont. Relying heavily on storytelling, his music walks the lines between jagged and humorous and has been called a form of ‘punk folk’.
And…Dylan Patrick Ward – Dylan plays his own brand of weird folk music inspired by indie rock and outlaw country. Chris Farnsworth of Seven Days described his songs as having “hyper-literate lyrics and a dark sense of humor” and acclaimed singer-songwriter Peter Mulvey said of Dylan: “He’s funny. He’s also serious as an ax handle.”
Growing up in Vermont’s Dirty South, Dylan has always had an affinity for oddballs, underdogs and loveable losers. He started his music career in 2020, releasing a slew of lofi, home recordings ala Daniel Johnston. Since then he’s collaborated with a number of local and regional artists and opened for renowned touring acts like Peter Mulvey and The End of America (TEOA.)
The Local Music Showcase happens every Thursday, in The Lounge at Tine Restaurant, supporting and promoting the incredible, creative talent that has its roots in southern Vermont. On the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, we feature 4 local singer/songwriters, each playing a 30 minute set. On the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, we book a single local act, and they have the floor for a full 2 hours.
Additionally, on Thursday and Friday nights, when no live music is playing, we stream only local artists’ recorded music for the entire evening, with one local act/album featured in the playlist. This is our way of ‘streaming a little income back into the community’. We encourage everyone to listen to local artists!
