Owen Ashworth (from Casiotone for the Painfully Alone) celebrates the Holiday season with minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed songs of longing & regret… Featuring special guests Ruth Garbus and Dear Nora!
Advance Base is the solo project of Chicago-based singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth. Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds ballads around his conversational baritone that explore the human condition with honesty. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as “lo-fi,” and “weirdly uplifting”.
Songwriter Katy Davidson writes lyrics with layered meanings that contemplate the vast realms and intersections of wilderness, humanity, morality, technology, late capitalism, and love. Currently residing in Twentynine Palms CA, Davidson has been composing, recording, and performing for nearly twenty years, their current project: Dear Nora represents a spectrum of styles encompassing classic rock, experimental music, ethereal pop, new age, punk, and R&B.
Brattleboro-based mystical chanteuse, Ruth Garbus is a force of nature. Her visual art and musical work are always imbued with the magic of the shifting mystery of the seasons, rooted in the crystal-strewn granite of the White Mountains. Ruth’s tranquil compositions encourage introspection that is both sublime, and absurd, infused with the green hills, grey cemeteries, and plastic detritus of her Vermont home. Diverse in range, her unforgettable voice combines dark and light with even the highest pitches containing layers of emotional depth and meaning.
