NEYT is thrilled to welcome limited outdoor audiences to join them for the return of their Senior Company Spring Play Declaration, by Jonathan Dorf, directed by Hallie Flower, by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc., at 8:30 pm on June 4, 5 and 6, at NEYT’s outdoor amphitheatre 100 Flat Street, in Brattleboro.
Declaration tells the story of “a school day like any other…until it isn’t”. In a series of connected scenes and monologues, a group of young people tries to make sense of and survive what is happening around them as they learn that their school is under the attack of a mass shooter. Some describe the hopeful futures that they imagine for themselves when all this is over. Others are simply trying to piece together the story of what has just happened to them. With humor, and power, Declaration gives students a voice to ask how the promise of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” could be fulfilled, crouched behind a barricaded classroom door.
Tickets for these performances are $10 each, payable in cash or check at the door. To reserve your seats, please call the NEYT box office at (802) 246-6398 and leave a voicemail with your name, the date of the performance you would like to see, the number of people in your party, and a contact phone number. The rain date for performances postponed due to weather is Saturday, June 12. NEYT asks that audience members remain masked no matter their vaccination status.
