VERMONT ADAPTIVE CHARITY CHALLENGE

June 17, 2023 @ 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Killington Resort is proud to present the 13th Annual Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge at the Skyeship Base Area. The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an annual event to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling, mountain biking, paddling, and hiking, all while raising funds for the state’s largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities. The monies raised from this event support the adaptive programs and athletes of Vermont Adaptive year-round. It is also used toward scholarships – Vermont Adaptive never turns anyone away based on their ability to pay. We hope you can join us for a fantastic day of friendship in support of adaptive sports!

ABOUT THE EVENT
The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an annual event to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling and mountain biking all while raising funds for the state’s largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities.

What began as the 1st Annual Lookout Century Ride in 2011, in order to raise money for Vermont Adaptive, has grown into Vermont Adaptive’s largest annual fundraising event. Little did Phil and Joy Black know (owners of the Lookout Tavern) that their crazy idea to put on a century ride would expand into such an event.

Multiple road bike ride routes now loop through the towns of Killington, Pittsfield, Bethel, Barnard, Woodstock, Ludlow, Bridgewater, and Plymouth, Vermont. Quaint villages, the scenery of Route 100 and U.S. Route 4, and the Crossroad of Vermont Byway, the seventh of its kind recently designated by the Vermont Transportation Board, are incorporated into the routes. In addition, you can choose to mountain bike, hike or paddle instead of road cycling, then join in for the festival in the afternoon.

With many businesses and individuals getting involved over the years, the event raises upwards of $300,000 for the organization and has become a critical part of the annual budget. New ideas come and go for the event but one thing remains the same—this is an annual event not to be missed!

SCHEDULE:
12:00 p.m.: Gates open for the after-party, featuring food trucks, awards, Lazy Cow ice cream, kids activities, and live entertainment. DJ Dave opens the festivities with tunes and commentary. Food trucks include Taco Truck All-Stars, Skinny Pancake, Fork in the Road, and Sustainable Eats. Participants receive one meal ticket to use at the food truck of choice.

1:00 p.m.: Live music begins from Jamie’s Junk Show. The JUNK SHOW has a groovy acoustic style incorporating, Rock, Reggae, Bluegrass and Jazz. He is a local favorite and has a great New England following. We can’t wait to have them back for the second year at the Charity Challenge. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and come hang out for an afternoon of music and fun.

You can purchase festival tickets for a suggested minimum of $10 online or at the door on Saturday. This is for entry-only to the festival and does not include food or drink.
