LOCAL ARTIST, SUSAN ROSANO, WELCOMED BY OCEAN HOUSE AS FEBRUARY 2019 ARTISAN IN RESIDENCE

WATCH HILL, R.I. (February 2019) – Ocean House, a Forbes Triple Five-Star rated resort in Westerly, Rhode Island, announced that the notable mosaic artist Susan Rosano will be the February 2019 Artisan in Residence this February 15-17.

Ms. Rosano is a mosaic and mural artist that creates unique works of art by incorporating a variety of different materials. Using hand-cut stained-glass pieces, ceramic tiles, beads, and found objects, Ms. Rosano includes a vast range of textures and colors throughout her mosaic pieces and creates many of her designs that she then applies to murals, mirrors, jewelry, flower pots, and other original creations. Although all of her pieces differ and are one-of-a-kind, designs for most of her pieces usually center around environmental scenes. Ms. Rosano is able to fit her designs together like puzzle pieces- creating intricate and beautiful works of art.

Ms. Rosano creates her artwork from her studio in Guilford, Vermont. For the past 15 years, Ms. Rosano has worked as a Master Teaching Artist for the Vermont Arts Council, Arts for Learning Connecticut, and Life Time Arts in New York City. Ms. Rosano is a graduate with a master’s degree from Wesleyan University. She has worked with communities throughout New England, creating murals that can be found in various public spaces such as schools, hospitals, and libraries. In addition to her work as a mosaic and mural artist, Ms. Rosano is also a credentialed Creative Arts therapist, Reiki Master, Hypnotist, and Pastoral Counselor.

During her time as an Artisan in Residence, Ms. Rosano will hold multiple workshops and talks that are available to both children and adults. People will learn about the creation of mosaic art and will be able to create mosaic mirrors and birdhouses of their own. Specifically, this February’s events will include:
